Louis Jr. enjoyed wetting a hook. I believe I recall it was him and his entourage introduced this very young Kuntry Bumpkin to artificial lures, rod and reels, and the adrenaline rush of bass fishing on several small lakes (ponds) on Reagan, Texas ranch where my dad was Forman. Catch numbers were IMMENSE!!! When he and Bobbie lived in Golinda, Tx ( me just down the road in Robinson), he was gracious enough to accept an early pond fishing invite from me. I headed his way to pick him up early one morning with Robert Earl Keen's "Five Pound Bass" playing in my truck's tape player. I caught a bass that day that had to have weighed 3 1/2 - 5 lbs. It still had a half-digested 1- 1 1/2 lb perch (Sunfish) in its' mouth. That's MY Kinda FISH! Bit off more than he could chew and still hungry for more. Write back and tell me how they're bitin' up there Lou. Tell Kella I'm looking forward to another game of "Go Fish"!

I met Lou and Bobbie in Wichita, KS. Bobbie and I started work the same day at Continental Trailways in 1956. We've been close friends since that time. Lou was great on the Steel Guitar, and he could sing. No wonder he received lots of awards. RIP dear friend. Anita Fox-Birdwell, Kiowa, KS.

I was very fortunate to have worked for and with this good man on the stage way back in the early days! Lou has remained a good friend through the years even tho we might not have been able to visit or see each other very often! He was one of the most decent men I have ever worked for and with in the nearly 70 years that I have been associated with the music industry. He and his dear Wife Bobbie(Barbara) were the epitome of what a marriage relationship is supposed to be. May God Bless Lou's family and all who loved him. He will be missed by many!
